Event Description
Join us for the 17th year of this powerful dance theatre production, featuring a mini-concert by Israel Houghton! Underground is a dance theatre production that tells the story of three slaves who escape the plantation and travel through the Underground Railroad on their way to freedom. Audiences meet the people they encounter along the way, including a Quaker community faced with deciding what to do when they discover the evils of slavery. In its 17th year, Underground continues to impact audiences with its message of the spirit of the Underground Railroad: It takes all of us together to fight the evils of racism with Good. It has happened before in this nation's history, and we can be a part of coming together to do Good today. Unite KC is a proud sponsor of Störling Dance Theater’s Underground. The production has played an integral role in forming Unite KC’s strategy for pursuing racial healing and unity.
